In the last blog post, we talked about five highly valuable people skills you need as a virtual assistant. These are interpersonal communication, consistent reliability, effective time-management, calming patience, and active listening. Let’s explore the other five characteristics that will make you a highly sought after business professional.
Regular Flexibility
There will be times you will need to exercise flexibility in your work as a virtual assistant. Being able to “roll with the punches” will simply cause you less stress. It will also help you become more adaptable to complicated situations.
Good Judgment
Good judgment and common sense allow you to use these skills without letting yourself get steam-rolled by a demanding client. Patience and flexibility are very helpful, but there may be times you need to stand up for yourself with courtesy and in a friendly manner.
Careful Negotiation
This trait is obviously very helpful when increasing your client base. Knowing your worth and being confident in your abilities as a professional, will assist you as you take on new clients and more projects.
Real Honesty
Being honest will save you plenty of hardship in the long run. Be honest if you can’t complete a project on time or don’t have the necessary skills to finish the work properly. This is also helpful if a client wants to take a direction that you don’t believe will be beneficial for their business. It can be difficult, to be honest, but it’s most definitely necessary.
Effective Problem Solving
If you haven’t already discovered, virtual assistant work is mostly about problem-solving. Being proactive in this area will make you a valuable part of their team. Foreseeing a problem the client doesn’t or can’t see, and coming up with an effective solution, will help them immensely and create a strong foundation for your business relationship.
