In the last article, we introduced the topic of how to write a blog post in seven simple steps. By following these steps, you can write educational, informative, or inspirational blog posts for your clients and your own website as well. Let’s continue by reviewing the rest of the steps to a well-constructed blog post.
4. Write the Introductory and Closing Paragraph
Once the main content is written, go back and write the introductory and closing paragraphs. Be sure to include the following information in each:
Introductory paragraph:
- Introduction of what the article is about.
- A reason or two why the blog post is important.
- What they’ll learn from reading it.
Closing paragraph:
- One or two-sentence summary of the post.
- Next steps they should take now that they’ve read the blog post.
- Call to action, such as purchasing a product, scheduling a consultation, or requesting an estimate.
5. Proofread the Blog Post
Proofreading the blog post is an important step you don’t want to miss. Part of providing high-quality content is providing your client with a grammatically correct, well-written, easily understandable blog article. Check the post for these and other errors:
- Correct grammar.
- Correct punctuation.
- Spelling mistakes.
- Sentence formats.
- Readability.
6. Format the Post
If you’re also uploading the article to your client’s blog platform, you’ll want to add a few more items, specifically for search engine optimization reasons.
- Internal links to services or products mentioned throughout the article.
- Internal links to other related blog posts.
- Images to break up the article or to support the content.
- Attention-grabbing article title.
- Meta description for high rankings on search engines.
- Keywords used naturally throughout the article.
7. Publish the Post
Congratulations! Now that you’ve written, proofread, and formatted the blog post, you are ready to publish. The next step involves marketing the content, such as posting on social media, sending it in an email newsletter, or submitting it to article directories.
